It's ALIVE! This is a quick video to show Gene that the Poverty Box has been resurrected from the dead.

This is a Magnatone Melodier advanced model 110. Date codes on the pots indicate 1954. Bringing it back to life unfortunately required replacing every single 60-year-old capacitor in the chassis. Also the 2-wire AC power cord was completely decayed, crumbling chunks off if you moved it or handled it in any way. It was converted to a 3-wire cord with a solid chassis tie to ground and the death cap removed.

This little beastie is very close in architecture to a Fender 5E3 rTweed Deluxe. Some of the component values are a little different, and the Magnatone tone control is just a straight dump-to-ground instead of bypassing the volume like the Fender "tweed tone control". Also the first preamp tube on the Magnatone is a 12AX7 instead of the Fender's 12AY7.
