Phil Gould was born Hong-Kong, grew up Isle of Wight, dabbled with instruments until age 15 when drums took over. First band folk-rock, a la Fairport Convention. He played in a number of bands, the best of which was called Joe Bear!! Late teens, played summer seasons in holiday camps. Earned enough money, however, to be able to study through the winters and fund his own way, eventually, to the Royal Academy of Music (en route meeting maestro Mike Lindup while studying part-time at the Guildhall School of Music). Played a few sessions, then joined M (Robin Scott - Pop Muzik) and recorded two albums withe them; 'M' & 'Offical Secrets'! Great first recording experiences, which lay the foundations for the way Level 42 records were made.

Through M, Phil met Wally Badarou, who was to become an integral part of Level 42, which evolved, with Mike Lindup, brother Boon and fellow IoW compadre Mark King, the same year and also involved, again from the M sessions, Gary Barnacle. Spent 20's (80's) in Level 42. Now spend time writing, playing and producing in any number of scenarios, anything to not be on the road, basically! Though the live element is creeping back in again these days!

Phil would like to thank all those who played, sang or technically assisted on these tracks. It's a rare honour indeed to have access to such special musicians, and such great people!

The Gould, Brown & Black album 'Terraforming' is available in hard copy from the web-site - www.philgould.com - and for download from i-Tunes! Come and have a look at the web-site and join the forum. News and more info, videos and pictures will be added in the coming weeks
