THE GOT TO GET GOT - "Gettin' Dirty In The Afterlife" video from THE GOT TO GET GOT on Vimeo.

THE NEW:

THE GOT TO GET GOT (TGTGG) are still the Marion Barry's of incisor rock! After spending all winter in the studio they've just finished their first full-length record called "Sahalee" slated to come out in July (Noyes Records/Rewika Records). Recorded in December in various studios in Halifax and Montreal, "Sahalee" encompasses everything about TGTGG. It's surprisingly beautiful and accessible considering its pedigree (North of America) yet a record like this was almost destined to happen sooner or later. For the few who have heard the unmastered version of Sahalee, the responses have been stuff like, "catchy as balls" and "if this doesn't come out and blow minds, I'm gonna kill someone" to " I love it", "I really like it", to "I like it". Once a bi-coastal band, TGTGG are finally one unit. "Sahalee" also features special appearances by Samir Khan (Weights & Measures), Jenny and Annisa (Oh Bijou), Warren Spicer (Plants And Animals), Angela Desveaux, Ron Bates (The Memories Attack) and Leon Taheny (Sebastien Grainger and the Mountains).

THE GOT TO GET GOT – WHAT’S IN A NAME?

Due to the success of the HBO Series “The Wire” a lot of people think TGTGG got their name from the saying “gotta get got” uttered frequently by Omar, Bodie, Poot and the gang. But it actually came from an Law & Order episode back in the late 90’s. “It was late and I was going to bed and A&E used to re-run Law & Order on a loop. They brought some crook in for questioning and his explanation for killing some dude was, ‘he gotta get got,’” I heard, "The Got To Get Got.”

“The Got To Get Got” name is also repeated in the North of America song, “Back Stabbath”, but that’s not where the name came from. The first incarnation of The Got To Get Got formed in July of 2000 by Mark Mullane, Warren Spicer (Plants And Animals) and Peter Hall.

TGTGG are:

Mark Mullane - The elder and band Dad. Keeps a watchful eye over his flock.

Eleanor King - Band secretary and eyebrow raiser. EK is a true artist and a vision. Plus, she rocks a mean glock and tambo hand.

Brad Lahead - The kid. The Hendrix of the band. The second coming.

Adam Hartling - Soft spoken, lovable, but don't cross him, he'll come after you and hurt you real bad.

Haley Thomas - Unfamiliar with the term "the night is over".

Rachael Schwartz - Climbs cranes alone at night, builds robotic parts of amputees, is wee, and rides her back with a cello on her back.

Robbie Shedden - Makes the best vegan pies in town. Also, a true artist and vision.

TGTGG are coming to your town.
