To give you a little background, Rain for the Rust was produced by David Macleod, the Ideal Lovers and Plants and Animals' Warren C. Spice at The Treatment Room on 2-inch analogue tape. The record includes guest musicians Katie Moore, Emma Baxter (Orillia Opry), Angela Desveaux and Nicolas Basque and Warren C. Spicer (Plants and Animals).

This is the third recording project for David Macleod. His earlier recordings include Timber: The New Gentleman's Shuffle (Ships at Night, 2005) and a solo album, David Macleod: Strange Biology (Ships at Night, 2006). David has built a reputation as an extraordinary songwriter and lyricist and warm performer. Strange Biology was ranked No. 2 on Pop Matters Best Songwriter's of 2006 list between Joanna Newsom (No. 1) and Bonnie Prince Billy (No. 5).
The Ideal Lovers are one of Montreal's most talented bands. They were nominated for "Best Live Show" at the 2006 Montreal International Music Initiative awards. They bring vibrancy and rock energy to David's songs, both recorded and live. The Ideal Lovers have been involved in several recording projects as a band: How to Light a Match With One Hand in the Wind (2006) and Shake Schmake (EP, 2008)) as well as backing Orillia Opry, Mike Evan and Mike O'Brien.
David Macleod and the Ideal lovers is a group of career musicians with a lot of chops and songwriting talent. They recently captivated a sold out crowd at 700-capacity La Tulipe in Montreal where they supported Plants and Animals. They are dedicated to this record, ready to invest themselves fully in its release and to support it with extensive touring.
