Sam Evans - Goodbye girl - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 20, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
Sam Evans was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but came to South Africa in 1965. He worked as a building contractor in Vanderbijlpark before moving to Johannesburg. Here he played rhythm guitar for country-and-western singer Charles Jacobie, before joining the G-Men as vocalist. The band finally broke up when the club at which they were playing closed down, and he then had a brief, but very successful, stint with the A-Cads before going solo. He released a number of 7" singles during the 1960s and early 1970s, with "Ain't Love A Funny Thing" going to #6 on the South African Top 20 in 1970, charting for 7 weeks.

This song is off the album "Ain't Love A Funny Thing", released in 1970. It was also released on 7" single in 1971. It was written by David Gresham (very well-known Springbok Radio DJ, and presenter of the Top 20 on Friday evenings) and Eric Smith.
