The Go-Go's were far from being the first all female band and even not the first all female band to hit the U.S Top 40, Fanny achieved that decades before hand, but the Go-Go's were the first all female band to score a #1 album and undoubtedly this open the doors for future female bands as proof that a unit of females could not only write, play and be commercial viable and radio friendly. The Go-Gos' would continue on making two more full length albums before calling it quits in 1985. The former members would go on to have solo projects and would reform at various times throughout the 1990's and into the 2000's. 2001's "God Bless The Go-Go's" would be their final release of new material, however the band still continues to tour and give not only the die hard fans but new fans as well, proof why the Go-Go's are pioneers.
