Gil Edwards was born and raised in Meford Oregon. Music has been Gil's main interest as long as he can remember. As a 9 year old boy he got a real nice blue tick hound from his daddy. He'd been trying to get the old man to buy him a guitar for about a year. But money was tight and it didn't look too promising.
One night his daddy came home from coon hunting, he asked Gil if he still wanted a guitar. It seems one of his hunting buddies had an old Gibson guitar that he would trade for Gil's hound. Well he missed that old hound dog but he loved his new guitar and the rest is simply history.
Many European musicians have high hopes of fame and fortune, and they pack their bags and head west toward the USA. Well Gil did the exact opposite and with guitar in hand and few possessions he left his home in 1981 and he headed east towards Europe. Jump ahead to 2006 and Gil is a very successful well known musician in Norway and around Scandinavia.
Gil's music has been classified as Alternative Country a music style that has become very popular in the USA. This music is much rougher and more rockin than ordinary country. The popularity of this style of music is largely due to artists like "Steve Earle" and "Son Volt".
I first got hip to Gil's great music when my "Keep On Rollin" song, written for my friends Willy G. Davidson & his lovely wife Jeanne Davidson, was included on the 100th Anniversary "Tribute To A Legend" Harley Davidson double Cd release. Gil's rockin song "Crotch Rocket" was also included and we became hard fast friends.
These past two years since I moved to Norway, Gil and I have been playing more and more HD events together including "Scandinavian Bike Week" in Lillihammer, and the HDC European "Super Rally" held in Vinstra Norway this summer. It was then and there we decided Gil Edwards would be an excellant opening act for us next season on our first USA tour in 4 years, and as well to join us as our elusive 4th member for the Pat Savage Band.
We also welcome Gil Edwards who is also a HD biker and a hilarious character to the cast of our upcoming TV biker reality series "A Bikers Lifestyle.The Savage Roads" to start on Discovery next spring! We will be recording his hot new anthem "Free" on our upcoming studio Cd and the song will be featured weekly on our series and the BL soundtrack. Best damn song I've heard in ages!
