Gary Martin

Martin started Teknotika Records in Detroit in 1993 after 10 years of band projects that involved many categories of music from glam rock, neo-romantic 80's pop, to internationally known lounge act "Punch & Kitty". By 1996 he had already released 20 12"s and began to D.J. and perform live internationally to overwhelming enthusiastic crowds. Some of the notable shows were; the Electrogiai Festival in Spain of 05, Plastic Part 1 at the Botafar in Paris 05, the Basement Traxx party at the Rex Club in Paris 2001 (after selling out 100 copies of "Pimping People in High Places" in a few hours), England's famous Tribal Gathering Festival in 1997,The Liquid Room in Tokyo, the closing party of Tresor in Berlin, 3 times at Hart Plaza in Detroit's electronic music festivals, and several local live shows & parties & promotional events. In the 2001 Detroit Music Awards Mr. Martin was a nominee for Best Electronic DJ Performance.



Teknotika Records has over 40 releases and promoted over 10 different artists. The roster includes: Gary Martin, Rennie Foster, The Sense, Elliot Taub, Gigi Galaxy, Deetron, Ben Sims and more. Gary has also released on a number of labels such as Exceptional, KMS, Ingoma, Flux, Eye Q, Mole People and more.



The exotic flair of Mr. Martin's music has great international appeal with charted hits all over the world such as "Black Forest" charted 8 times in one issue of Groove magazine in Germany. "Casa Cugat" was a huge club and radio hit in Turkey. "Ritual Fire Dance" and "Pimping People In High Places" were also huge club hits in Europe.



Gary's records have been played by, charted, and used in mix cd's by a countless number of dj's such as Kevin Saunderson –"Trust the DJ", Jeff Mills-"the Exhibitionist", Ben Sims-"Escapism", Miss Kitten-"On The Road", "Time Warp" by DJ Hell, "the Sound of the Sixth Season" by Sven Vath, and "Shift to the Other Time" by Fumiya Tanaka to name a few.



Mr. Martin has done several remixes for a variety of artists' two of which were for the band Gus Gus. His version of the song called Barry was a top 40 hit in Iceland and the video was in rotation on MTV. Recently Gary's remixes of "Alia" by Gerald Mitchell & DJ 3000 on Motech and "Falling Skyward" by Rennie Foster have done well for both artists.



Gary Martin is a D.J. from Detroit, and he is a D.J. of the world! His artistry and musical interests set him apart from the pack. Every performance becomes an event giving the crowds what they want and taking them on an exotic journey to unrealized musical vistas.
