22 Eylül'de Daniel Bachman performansı ile başlayan Ses ve Müzik Keşifleri, Gareth Dickson'ın 17 Ekim'deki performansı ile devam ediyor. Undomondo'nun küratörlüğünde Açık Sinema'da gerçekleştirilen performans serisi ile müzikal fikir ve deneyimler için katılımcı bir ortam oluşturulması, güncel deneysel müziğin incelenmesi ve müzik ve ses üzerinden etkileşim kurulan bir platform yaratılması amaçlanıyor.

Glasgow'lu müzisyen Dickson'ın müziği, akustik gitar ile düşsel şarkı söyleme yaklaşımına dayanıyor. Besteler analog geciktirme ve yankılandırma efektleriyle meditatif ve buğulu bir hava yaratırken, gitarda fingerpicking seri tarzını kullanan müzisyen bu yöntemin eski ustalarına göndermede bulunuyor. Müziğinin lo-fi doğası sanatın yaratılma sürecine ilişkin derin kişisellikler barındırıyor ve sürekli olarak gitarla yapılabilecek yenilikleri araştırıyor. Curated by Undomondo, the Walk-in Cinema is hosting a new performance series titled Expeditions in Sound and Music, which intends to offer a selection of inspiring and experimental performances, exploring the vast array of artists who work with sound and music. The aim of this performance series is to create an inclusive and participatory environment for musical experiences while investigating new ideas, initiating discussions in contemporary forms of experimental music and establishing a platform for interaction over music and sound.

On September 22, Expeditions in Sound and Music took off with Daniel Bachman, and continues with a performance by Gareth Dickson, which will take place on October 17. Hailing from Glasgow, Dickson's music is characterized by the acoustic guitar and a dreamy approach to singing. His compositions employ analogue delay and reverb effects, adding to the meditative, spacey vibe as well as referencing some of the well-known fingerpicker guitarists of the past. The lo-fi nature of his sound harbors the deeply personal circumstances that his practice is rooted in, as Dickson continuously explores new possibilities for an age-old instrument.

While he is often comprated to guitarist Nick Drake, the influence of experimentalists such as Brian Eno, Aphex Twin and Bert Jansch is also visible. Dickson has toured extensively as Vashti Bunyan's guitarist and recorded and toured as a solo artist with Juana Molina. Along the way, he worked with many musicians including Devendra Banhart, Coco Rosie, Max Richter and David Byrne (of Talking Heads).

Following his two previous full-length releases, he released a new album in 2012 on the experimental New York label 12k, titled Quite a Way Away. As The Wire magazine put it in the review of his new album, Dickson is "an artist of real originality."
