DESCRIPTION:
Pak Sinister was the first "real" gamelan music that Gamelan X learned as an ensemble. Former Gamelan Sekar Jaya artist in residence I Putu Putrawan from Munduk, Bali wrote it for our beleganjur ensemble in 2007. Originally titled "Sumer", GX has continuously reinterpreted this piece over the years incorporating bells and whistles of many varieties, African percussion, horns, sludgy dub style electronics, and the current version featuring the arrangement and drum set wizardry of Daniel Yasmin.
