This track was recorded for Guitarist Magazine's Guitarist of the year in 1994.
Recorded with a great live band at a garage studio in Busby. Les Barrett on drums and Johnny Brady from Barky Barky and The Johnny 7 on bass.
The brass section were pulled together and arranged by Gail McArthur. I think it was Allon Beauvoisin on Barritone, Gail McArthur and Graham Wilson on Tenor (?) with Tom MacNiven on Trumpet but I couldn't swear to it. The brass were awesome, on the day no rehearsal just straight into the recording.
I remember the band drifting out of time badly during the sessions and I will never forget the look of concentration on Johnny's face as he struggled to hold everyone together; an absolute one man rhythm machine on bass!
The guitar is a Levinson Blade R4. Not sure what pickups were in it at the time as the poor baby has been mutilated so many times over the years. I think it's probably a Seymour Duncan HotRails in the bridge and a Quarter Pounder in the neck but that's just a guess.
Amp is my trusty Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier through a Feb 1972 Marshall 4x12 with original Celestion Green Backs. The amp was running so much gain I had to take my watch off as the ticking was vibrating through the neck and causing havoc with the engineer.
Ah, good times indeed.
