Hello all, this is a VERY loose translation of the beautiful Clannad song " Mhorag's Na Horo Gheallaidh ". I decided to sing the verses in english. I tried to get the original chorus down though. Please forgive any translation / pronunciation mistakes.
This song is linked to my childhood, my parents had the album ( Fuaim ) and used to play it in the evenings at our Umbrian country house. The stone house, set into the hillside, had been converted from a barn, so it was basically one big room downstairs ( where the stereo was ) and the bedrooms upstairs. Mom and Dad would put on this album at bedtime and the music would echo and travel up the stairs and lull us ( my little brothers and I ) to a sweet sleep. It became sort of a ritual. Since this is the ninth song on the album, I associate it with the strange floating sensation between wakefulness and sleep...the song relaxes me to this day.
Of course, eventually we got tired of the album, the house was sold, we grew up; I hadn't thought about it for years - then yesterday, I was checking the microphone and the tune came out of me of its own accord. What can I say, I'm glad :)
