GB ‘Anointed’ EP

On the streets of London a new sound is rising alongside a new generation of stars. It’s a movement at one of its most creative moments, where all kinds of cultural influences are thrown into the blender to create something new. No one has picked a name for it yet; UK afrobeats, afro-trap or afro-bashment are contenders. GB is the newest arrival on the scene (government name Kevin Kameni Antwi). From Hackney and with one parent from Cameron and the other from Ghana, music is in his blood. His Dad is a working Highlife gospel musician and he grew up playing drums in church before learning how to produce and write songs. ‘Anointed’ is his debut LP, 13 addictive tracks over which he explores his unique voice. He’s immersed in the vocabulary of US RnB, trap and pop, as well as the highlife and hiplife of Ghana and Nigerian Afrobeats with the majority of the LP was produced by fellow IRAY MVMT member, producer MB. LP banger ‘Underlover’ has already been a viral hit, hitting over a million streams across the online services and sparking a global dance routine craze, which had people uploading videos to social media as far abroad as Brazil and Canada. He’s also released ‘Work’ from the mixtape on which he enlisted Vianni for a sweet Afro-RnB cut. Also featured is Amsterdam-born Jaij Hollands, a star on the scene for his rugged vocals over high-energy African style beats like ‘Alkayida’. GB, Jaij Holland, Iray Prof, Mundo and MB make up leading UK Afrobeats label/ crew IRAY MVMT. With ‘Anointed ’GB has been blessed as the future of this new UK sound, one that grows every day.
