As 2013 draws to a close Sound Avenue takes a look back over its impressive discography and unveils four new interpretations for some of the labels best releases. The Belgian imprint has enjoyed another extremely successful year with standout productions from: Pole Folder, Lank, Navar, MUUI and a long list of other talented producers. For the labels sixth ever compilation release Sound Avenue has gone back and revisited tracks from: Future Motions, Andrew McDonnell, Lonya & Audio Junkies and dPen. The well rounded release looks to get Sound Avenue off to a great start in 2014 with new interpretations by Antti Rasi, Navar, Kieran J and Or Weisinger.

Antti Rasi first came to our attention when he appeared on Solarstone's 'Solaris' imprint in March of 2013. It was the Finnish producer's production debut as he remixed fellow countryman Orkidea. Later in the year Antti would make his first appearance on Sound Avenue's 3rd Avenue imprint with a deep, brooding interpretation of Tero Civill's 'Rescue Me'. To kick off Sound Avenue's first release of 2014 Antti has been given the daunting task of remixing Future Motions near perfect 'The Way You Look' which saw its release in July of 2013. Antti's deep and sultry grooves have lent themselves very well to 'The Way You Look'. The throbbing hypno foundation is downright intoxicating and the marvellously reworked melodic elements shine amidst a wonderful hazy sheen. A short drop reinvents the vocal before the buzzing groove returns and the musical theme reaches new heights for a classy conclusion.

Andrew McDonnell's 'Patience of Envy' was Sound Avenue's 26th offering and was considered by many to be one of the labels standout releases of the year. The package contained two exceptional remixes by the much hyped Dutch producer Navar. It was the 'Inside Out' remix which caught the attention of one Guy J who not only played the track but also included it in his November Beatport chart as well. Navar also completed an edit of 'Patience Of Envy' which until now has been unheard and unreleased. It finds the Dutch producer stripping the composition down and delivered a cool dubby rework. The punchy beats have an energetic bounce and the vibrancy of the groove carries a wonderfully laid back energy through to the drop. Here Navar's amazing musical theme which was so prominent on his main mix comes to the forefront for an undeniably emotional moment. The funkiness of the production gets taken up a notch in the second half with big, well carved bass stabs adding a new twist for the records smooth conclusion.

Up next Kieran J reworks Lonya & Audio Junkies 'Mr. Nice Guy' which was Sound Avenue's 12th overall release. Hailing from Ireland Kieran had a great 2013 with releases on Asymmetric, Baires and L3D which were all fabulous. For his 'Mr. Nice Guy' interpretation Kieran has transformed the warped melodic brilliance from the original into something deeper and much more delicate. A intricately constructed hypno theme provides a brilliant late night vibe while the cool vocal stabs and old school electronics set a timeless framework for the piece. It's a slow and steady build with poignant bass stabs and ethereal synths highlighting the tracks classy conclusion.

Closing the release out is Or Weisinger with his brand new rework of dPen's 'Cold & Flu'. The Tel Aviv based producer made his production debut on Crossfade Sounds in early February with an appearance on the labels 'Crossing Borders' compilation. He quickly followed that up with a full 4 track EP for Crossfade Sounds and a contribution to Sound Avenue's 'Summer Sampler'. dPen is one of the tried and true names of the electronic music underground. Releases on Nick Warren's Hope Recordings and Guy Mantzur's Pattenbank have more than solidified dPen as a top tier artist so it was certainly a daunting task for Or to take on but it's turned out exceptionally well. The warped, techy brilliance of dPen's original has been completely stripped down by Or into a timeless techno creation. Wonderfully warped vocal elements, live drums and an underlying funkiness make this one of Or's most unique creations to date.
