Who is FUTUREMAN?
Since settling in the UK in 2002, Jamaican born FUTUREMAN has established himself as one of the most versatile performers on the scene. Fusing Dancehall, Reggae and Hip-Hop into an eclectic vibe, his debut album, I Am Good Enough (2008), will appeal to anyone with an ear for a tune and spring in their step.
At a time when negativity rules, his lyrics - a mix of the constant struggles of life and how we should count our blessings - are based upon his experiences in Jamaica's ghetto life, yet focus upon positivity and optimism, leaving violence and pessimism at the door. All the tracks upon the album are written by FUTUREMAN, except for track 17, which is a collaboration with White. All tracks are produced by Edixion, Roadz and Neno, and it is available online at iTunes, HMV and Emusic.
Born Zemroy Thomas, FUTUREMAN was raised in St Ann Jamaica, the birthplace of Bob Marley, and started singing at school, home and in church as soon as he could talk. Influenced by the rich diversity of the Jamaican music scene, he started writing his own songs aged 12, and performed at a wide range of street dances and singing competitions as a teenager, winning more than he lost.
Since arriving in the UK, he's been introduced to a wide range of Grime and Hip-Hop artists, and has subsequently written and performed in collaboration with them.
To fuel his march to the top, FUTUREMAN works as a key worker at a special needs school, looking after children with Autism, ADHD and Tourettes, yet despite this gruelling schedule, he has still managed to perform frequently in Kent and surrounding counties, appeared on Natty B's Choice FM podcast, and been interviewed by DJ Mennis on TGR Sound Radio.
In Januray 2009, FUTUREMAN, started working with respected producer King David on his currently untitled second album, due to drop as Summer rolls in. The sound is evolution over revolution, with a few sure-fire club bangers added to his uplifting style.
So who is FUTUREMAN? Well, he's the future, man…
