DESCRIPTION:
November 2013 Dick de Graaf a teacher of saxophone and small ensembles at Codarts University for the Performing Arts in Rotterdam NL organized a project week for bachelor jazz students. De Graaf invited his fellows from the Clazz Ensemble (Gerard Kleijn-tp, Vincent Veneman-tb, Nils van Haften-sx and Guus Bakker-b) together with Elizabeth Simonian-vc,Ilja Reijngoud-tb, Paul Maassen-p, and Marc Schenk-dr) to coach 4 small ensembles and 1 large ensemble rehearsing original compositions by Brooklyn based pianist and composer Frank Carlberg. This video shows the final, informal presentation of a selection of Carlberg's songs in the WMDC, Rotterdam: We have always been, We get crazy, Simple Things, Useless Song, Federico on Broadway part 1 and 2 and Johnny Carlson's Big Band.
