In Part 3 of our series on the CAGED System for Understanding the guitar we look at ways to vary your practice of the scale patterns to assist in memorization and utilization of the 5 forms.

Beginning with a recap of the position location process, we'll use the C form scale in the key of G to demonstrate ways that you can create intervallic patterns or melodic sequences that will challenge you to improve your dexterity and muscle memory while beginning to promote a thorough understanding of the patterns' connection to the scale degrees and underlying structure of the major key within each form.

Parts 1 & 2 may be helpful to review if the forms or their placement are unclear at any point.
