From the 'Frequency' EP by Ummagma (December 2015) featuring five original tracks and three remixes of 'Lama' by legendary artists, including Cocteau Twins kingpin Robin Guthrie and Malcolm Holmes of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, as well as Wales' Lights That Change - each of these producers bring their signature sound to the mix.

'Frequency' is the keenly anticipated follow up to their two debut LPs 'Ummagma' and 'Antigravity', released simultaneously in 2012. The album takes the listener through a cosmic yet introspective dreampop and ambient journey, tinged with shoegaze and synthpop flair. After relocating from Ukraine to Canada, 'Frequency' was the creative output of a search for optimism that helped the band put the current war behind them and to find new ground. It explores such themes as space and distance, timelessness, escapism, and the search for tranquility.

The band's sound is reminiscent of early 4AD early output with hues of Cocteau Twins, David Sylvian, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis and Stereolab. Comprised of Shauna McLarnon and Alexander Kretov, they hail from Whitehorse, Canada and Kremenets, Ukraine respectively. Having first met in the centre of Moscow, they moved to Ukraine during the Orange Revolution but now call Peterborough, Canada home.

"Ummagma have something very special about them that you don't find in many bands, that is an honest, believable & beautiful lyric delivered by an honest, believable & beautiful voice," says Malcolm Holmes of OMD. "When you combine this with the swirling ambience of lush layered guitars, this duo end up with their own unique sonic landscape."

In 2015, Ummagma also gained support from Joe Foster (Creation Records, The Television Personalities), Rudy Tambala (A.R. Kane), Ray Dickaty (Spiritualized), Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn, Lords of Acid), Graham Bonnar (Swervedriver, Brian Jonestone Massacre), Morgane Lhote (Stereolab) and Rusty Egan (Visage, Rich Kids).

The 'Frequency' EP features in 30+ ‘Best of 2015' charts and was named the Top Release of 2015 by Stereo Embers Magazine and Dreampop Album of the Year by The Record Stache, as well as Top Ukrainian Release of 2015 by The Sound of Confusion. Ummagma previously won the 2013 Alternative Eurovision on Amazing Radio, representing Ukraine.

The record has had coverage in over 50 countries, including airplay on BBC6 Music thanks to Gideon Coe, charting on U.S. and Canadian college radio, play on national Radio 3 in Spain, and hundreds of other stations spanning six continents. Press coverage includes features in Electronic Sound Magazine, Louderthanwar, Impose Magazine, Northern Transmissions and over 100 features elsewhere. ‘Frequency’ was listed as the Top album of 2015 in The Record Stache and Stereo Embers, with individual tracks and remixes from this release also ranking in various charts.

Ummagma 'Frequency' is out now via Moon Sounds Records, one of the most dynamic shoegaze labels in America and home to such bands as Dead Leaf Echo, Ceremony, The Foreign Resort, The Vandelles, Static Daydream, A*Star, Porcupine, Follow The Sea and Bloodhounds On My Trail.
