FLEXIE MUISO
Originally born in Nigeria, Cobham Town, Calabar Cross River State. Known as Prince Peter Offiong Archibong to his family, Flexies Grandfather was the Obong of Calabar, traditional Efik ruler from 1989-1999. Flexie holds a solid Efik background and continues to take his roots wherever he travels.
Flexie Muiso hit the music scene at the tender age of nine as an alto in the local church choir!
Awarded scholarships for music, sport and drama, Flexie spent his younger years in Dover College boarding school, Flexie continued to excel in music and began to mature with influences such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie and Ray Charles. Then his ears lead him towards artists such as MC Hammer, Boyz II Men and Jodeci, when he began to mix an old soulful sound with a more contemporary funky vibe.
When Flexie left boarding school at sixteen he began MCing in his local area of North London and at 18 became the resident MC at Londons Hammersmith Palais. This success took him around the south coast and then back to London when he then became a regular guest MC for Londons award winning Freak FM 101.8.
After becoming so successful as an MC, he decided that his true love of music was in his voice and so he pursued this and in 2000 gained a place at Londons well-known music school VocalTech, to study a degree in Vocal Performance.
VocalTech brought about many opportunities for Flexie such as performing at Londons renowned Royal Albert Hall, recording and developing his song writing and truly developing a strong sound. He also formed a 9-piece band called FLEXIE.
Flexie gigs in and around London and has twice been asked to perform at the sister event to Party In The Park where he gained a lot of support. He has continued to gig and sing at venues such as Londons famous Jazz Café and Uncle Sams and has completed work for advert and film music. Flexie also performed at the 2005 London Mayor City Showcase, which was very successful, where he gained a lot of interest and support.
Right now Flexie is writing tracks for his new EP which he hopes to take to various countries including France and Nigeria. Flexie has also had the privilege of writing with well-known writer Alan Glass. Alan has written tracks for great artists such as Aretha Franklin, Lighthouse Family, George Benson and Jocelyn Brown to name but a few. On the songwriting front , he has has two of his tracks scouted by EMI in Mexico and The A-Jay Brothers from ITV's X-Factor have recorded a track called "Late Girl" that Flexie co-wrote with songwriter Jay Benham.
2007, 2008 and 2010 saw Flexie play at The Monaco Jazz festival at the famous La Note Bleue and at the Esuene Stadium in Nigeria alongside Nigerian stars such as KC Presh and DBanj and US aritsts Ne-Yo and Akon. This year is set to be another eventful journey full of music and success.
