DESCRIPTION:
The ballet Celestial Fire was commisioned for the 1968 Staffordshire arts festival. The suite from the ballet came three years later. The Doll's Dance is the fourth of five movements. Patric Standford was born in Barnsley and was also a serious composer with five symphonies to his credit. He was also awarded both the Carl Meyer & Royal Philharmonic society prize for composition.
