It wasn’t bad I just went to sleep
In 1925 spelunker Floyd Collins was trapped in Kentucky’s sand cave
And people came to watch 10,000 a day
Sat in the sand and ate their lunches
Then Jesus died so the bible says
They put him in a cave
They wrapped his body
For three dark days the earth shaked shaked shaked
For three dark days the earth quaked quaked quaked
It wasn’t bad I just went to sleep
No explosion just asphyxiation
No cancer no emphysema
No little girl with one leg stuck behind her back
Underground underground where the dead are buried
And if I die doing this same job
The grief and rage the terror the fascination
Will it have been worth it
It wasn’t bad I just went to sleep
When Jesus died so the bible says
Poor Mary cried when she found that cave empty
But Jesus smiled he tapped her on the shoulder saying
It wasn’t bad I just went to sleep
And what is underground
Entombment entrapment something primal
Where the dead lie carved into black rock
Breathe in breath out blackrock

Few bands know the United States as well as Finn Riggins. Since the release of the group’s TLE debut in 2007, the Idaho indie rock outfit’s members have spent most of their time in a van together, at one point averaging over 200 shows a year. Which is not to say there’s any love lost between Finn Riggins and its home town of Boise: To the contrary, the band is heavily invested in and beloved by the local music scene, and keyboardist/vocalist Eric Gilbert is a founder of Boise’s high-profile Treefort Music Festival, now preparing for its fourth year. And Boise loves Finn Riggins back: Among the band’s local supporters are local legends Built to Spill, who have enlisted the group as support on a handful of tours.
