Filip G & Respecta "Deine Kiste"

WE LOVE THE GIRLS - WE LOVE THE GIRLS - WE LOVE THE GIRLS!!!

Fang mal an, ich will die Hintern wackeln seh’n, Mädels die sich drehen, Leute das is’ Leb’n!

("Let's get started, I wanna see your asses swinging, girls swaying, that's life guys")

Filip G & Respecta are leading the charge of the German Reggae scene and taking no prisoners. A crazy mixture of hot-blooded dancehall beats, cold blooded verbal attack, full blooded reggae vibes and sanguine Caribbean vibes is about to rain down on the club scene like a hot shower. The music tells stories written by life itself ("wish they'd never happened to me"), proclaiming spontaneous nonsense and calling for a more relaxed approach to life.

The vibe of Filip G & Respecta is perfect, their samples come from all parts of the globe and their lyrics play on words as others do with instruments. Their rhymes are always full on, without turning nasty – well, not too nasty at least. "Morning glory or cafe latte"? Anyway – the main thing is it's working in the dance. Whatever expectations you have of Filip G & Respecta, they probably won't be fulfilled. Instead you get a skip to the left, a leap to the right, more dodging and the next surprise – but always with the fat beats and fiendish vibes that never let you go.

Filip G, a.k.a Filip Gross, and Respecta, a.k.a. Stephan Meyer, have known each other for a long time. Respecta already started his dancehall career in the mid eighties when he dropped the baddest tunes like bombs all over the clubs. Educated by Steelie & Clevie & King Jammy's just as The legendary Rodigans Rockers Radio Show for years this seemed the only way of life. In the mid-nineties, Filip G & Respecta joined forces for a project called Da Bad Sounds, combining HipHop and Reggae even back then. At the same time, Respecta founded two labels in Hannover, one for Electro Styles, and one for Hip Hop and Reggae. He also made a name for himself as a DJ throughout the country. The EP called Nu Bad Sounds Fi Grow presented an explosive mixture of Ragga, HipHop and House, and is a precursor of today's Reggaeton. Then the artists went their separate ways, gathering their own experience individually: Filip had a short career as the House MC Ryde and Respecta became a producer and successful DJ, recording with great artists such as Guru (Gang Starr), Galliano, the Jungle Brothers, and the Mojo Club DJ team. He also made occasional forrays into the New York scene.

In the early 2000s, Filip G moved to Hamburg and met people that shared his passion for music, including DJ Martin Landsky, with whom he produced the track Reject in 2003 (DDC and several DJ charts). But the Filip G-Respecta connection remained and a performance at a Reggae dance in early 2005 kicked things off again.

The brandnew Filip G & Respecta Album "Also Also" has just been released. Once again, Respecta is in charge of producing those awesome temporary dancehall riddims and fat beats while Filip G pimps his surprising, powerful rhymes. There's no doubt the new Dancehall thing from Germany is about to burst on the scene. And we're all about to nod our heads to the riddims.
