Shelvin Rock at Cave Spring - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 03, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
This tune comes from the Carpenter family of Braxton County, West Virginia. A large overhanging rock was used by the Carpenter family to hide from aggressors as early as the 1790s. Ernie’s family was full of gifted fiddlers, and thankfully a few of them were recorded so that we can continue to carry on with the tunes. The tune Shelvin Rock is said to commemorate the birth of one of Ernie’s ancestors.
