Inventive sampling from a rising grime producer.

Massappeals is the latest name in the instrumental grime scene to keep an eye on, catching the attention of reliable Glasgow via London label Astral Black with his dark, bass-heavy sound.

Fresh from the release of his Royal Blud EP on the label with Nottingham MC Kamikaze, we caught up with the producer at London's Red Bull Studios, where he made innovative use of the surroundings to make a track in 10 minutes.

Using the sound of a can being crushed, he created a beat and bassline using an innovative wavetable synthesizer called Serum - something we've never seen on Against The Clock. In his words: "If you ever run out of bass ideas, just drag a can in."
