Here at Melodica Recordings we are ready to unleash another solid EP, this time coming from the young & talented UK producer Ben Hauke.

The eclectic Melodica Recordings are one of those labels that always reserves surprises for the audience, releasing such a colourful variety of music. This release comes from the very talented and quietly prolific 22 year old producer Ben Hauke, who has already impressed many with his previous release on Hear Other Sounds, his live sets as a headliner or alongside people like Paleman, and with different appearances on NTS Radio. His sound is a mix of UK funky and bass music with loads of sampling coming from different genres, with a futuristic -- beats approach on the style of his productions.

The idea of the 'Wari EP' was to have a visionary Afro vibe. When Ben came across a pile of old African records (released on Celluloid and Sonodisc) he considered some of the sounds perfect to be sampled for his next project and he found in Melodica the best home for his ideas. The EP is a collection of four incredibly well produced original cuts that remind us of early Floating Points and Four Tet's sound because of the choices of samples and for the use of deep and strong basslines and the unconventional shifted 4/4 kick groove.

The EP opens with 'Songo' a bassy and wobbly tunes with dub grimey influences fused with an African sampled vocal that kicks in during the break, clinically produced for doing damage on the dancefloor. The second track of the EP is 'Lu Sala,' it starts with another vocal sample, in loop until a side chained kick and bassline drops in, followed by a smooth and soulful warm house pad , all driven by sampled percussion grooves.

The third cut 'Mali Stars' is a faster tune that mixes a down-tempo bass driven beat with a proper ensemble of world music samples, coming from Jazz and Mali traditional music, creating the perfect vibe for another outstanding track. The last tune of the single is 'Press': a moody and jazzy track in which loops of different vocals are fused with relentless funky grooves, a deep and almost Trap reverberated kick with atmospheric and spacious synth melodies for a proper forward looking closing tune.
