DESCRIPTION:
Los Angeles-based indie band VUM performs a live, extended version of their single "Mountain Tooth" from their debut album Strange Attractor, available on Amazon and Amoeba Records. The video was directed and edited by Michael Frost for the Helsinki Company, LLC.

The video was shot at the Integratron in Landers, California. The Integratron is the creation of George Van Tassel, and is based on the design of Moses' Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials. This one-of-a-kind building is a 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, non-metallic structure originally designed by Van Tassel as a rejuvenation and time machine. Today, it is the only all-wood, acoustically perfect sound chamber in the U.S.

Jennifer Pearl (ex-Lion Fever, Lost Kids) and Christopher Badger (founding member of Grand Elegance) are VUM. Partners in crime, and co-conspirators for this new throbbing noir heartbeat. The two have gone off the road treading a deceptively minimalist path in comparison to the bombastic rock of their other outfits , conjuring an alternate reality where SUICIDE is being led by LINK WRAY in some weird Middle Eastern harem, where a brooding female has appeared, grabbed the mic from the karaoke machine, and hijacked the whole evening into a hypnotizing introversion, her hands beckoning the hashished clientele.

Indeed, their debut EP "Strange Attractor" manages to be the desert, the tropics, and "the streets" all at once. The opening track "Shadow In the Spotlight" is the perfect tour of their distinct disparate mood -- the warm,
somehow reassuring monotony of an analog drum-machine leads us into a shimmering surf-guitar taunt, locking us into a certain anticipatory narcotic paralysis until Jennifer's cool, confident vocal slowly eases in...VUM is the perfect distillation of the two's evolving iconography, and their systematic occult.
