Recorded at Ace Hotel Shoreditch London on 8th October 2014.

Late Night Tales presents ‘In Conversation’, a series of informal discussions on a creative theme focused on music and art.

The first In Conversation event is on the topic of curation, featuring expert input from host Bill Brewster, Erased Tapes founder Robert Raths, Ansel Neckles of 21st century cultural journal and creative learning hub Let's Be Brief and deputy editor of Clashmusic.com Robin Murray.

Bill Brewster comes armed with a sensitivity and sense of occasion that few other DJs possess – and as go-to scribe of liner notes for every Late Night Tales release since day one and compiler of the After Dark offshoot, his association with the series is symbiotic. Bill began DJing in in the late 80s, but he cut his teeth playing Low Life warehouse parties in Harlem and the East Village and anyone hearing Bill today can see how these New York ‘roots’ shine through. His other life is as a writer. Together with long-term pal Frank Broughton, Bill is author of the definitive history of DJing, ‘Last Night A DJ Saved My Life’, the uniquely sardonic DJ manual ‘How To DJ (Properly)’ and has contributed his acid Grimsby wit and encyclopaedic knowledge of music to just about every dance rag there is, not to mention The Guardian, Independent and Mail On Sunday.

Established by German-born Robert Raths in early 2007, Erased Tapes Records is a London based independent record label focusing on releasing avant-garde music which is widely regarded as very diverse in genres and styles. Its roster of contemporary classical music composers includes Ólafur Arnalds from Iceland, German composer Nils Frahm, Ukrainian continuous music pioneer Lubomyr Melnyk, American multi-instrumentalist Peter Broderick, A Winged Victory For The Sullen - the collaborative project of Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran, singer songwriter Douglas Dare, English film composer Michael Price and electronic artist Rival Consoles.

Let’s Be Brief is a cultural journal inspired by the present and invested in the future. Connecting the dots between culture and communications, LBB runs pop up schools, workshops and events for creative thinkers and doers alongside a monthly show on NTS Live.

Clash Music is a dynamic independent media group with established platforms in both print and digital media, with a diverse Live calendar that includes festivals, international music events and bespoke events organised for brands. Robin Murray is editor of ClashMusic.com, a definitive online guide covering the best of breaking to established artists alongside news, reviews, features, image gallery and forums, in addition to a collection of the best content from Clash Magazine.

Late Night Tales invites the world’s best artists to delve deep into their music collections to create the ultimate "late night” selection. The series features expertly curated mixes by MGMT, Friendly Fires, The Flaming Lips, Metronomy, Groove Armada, The Cinematic Orchestra, Four Tet, Belle & Sebastian, Jamiroquai, Midlake, Arctic Monkeys and more top artists.

Ace Hotel London Shoreditch hangs its hat in London's most creative, engaged district. A hub for galleries, theatre and design. Deep in the busy infinite beneath Ace Hotel, Miranda has made it's reputation on the stellar late-night programming that's defined the space since its inception.
