REVIEWS (you can click the images to see the whole reviews):

"Empty Promise - a melodic punk band from Wien, Austria - have released what has become one of my favorite albums of the year so far in Start From the Ground. Chock full of the kind of infectious punk rock that you can't help but feel good while listening to, the album takes everything that worked about Conscience Today and improves upon it greatly[.]So, if you're looking for a great melodic punk album, one that you can blast in your car on those carefree drives with the windows down, singing along at the top of your lungs, Empty Promise's Start From the Ground is the record for you."

"Austria, the home of some of my ancestors and one of my favorite finds of the year, Empty Promise. This four-piece melodic punk band definitely took me by surprise and are sure to do the same to more listeners. Already having an impressive demo EP on their resume, Empty Promise continue to come out strong with their debut album, Start from the Ground."

"I find it hard to find the right words to describe exactly what it is that I like about the CD so much. But I guess I'll try. I guess the main reason is that the twelve track CD from Austria's Empty Promise is a perfect reminder of the glory days of mid-nineties skate punk. Throughout it all, they never try to do anything more than that but are able to keep delivering the fast, slick guitar riffs with ease nonetheless. Melodic skate punk that sounds like a merger of Millencolin and No Use For A Name with an occasional Strung Out or A Wilhelm Scream flourish, Start From The Ground is a record that will bring back nostalgic memories and get the blood flowing at the same time."

"With 36 minutes, the record is not one of the longest in music history, but definitely one that shows how good the austrian musicscene can be, because it can surly match up to international bands. I'm really looking forward to hearing some new songs of this band. Absolutely a must-have of this year!"

WE SUCK AT SELF-DESCRIPTION:

fueled by the love for punkrock music the 4 young musicians of empty promise came together in a small basement room to start writing their own material in 2007. after the release of a demo ep (called "conscience today") in summer 2007 the band started playing shows all over austria. in february 2009 their debut full length (called "start from the ground") is going to come out containg a broad variety of different mooded songs. all in all you could just sum it up in 4 guys doing what they love, playing honest, melodic punk rock music probably influenced the most by the typical fatwreck sound.

“From their instantly-catchy melodies to their soaring guitar work, (…) Empty Promise don't fool around with any nonsense, and stick to playing what is simply honest, fun,

punk rock.”
