DESCRIPTION:
The Te Deum; Grosser Gott, first appeared in the Katholisches Gesangbuch
around the year 1774. It's author was listed as anonymous but later revisions by Ignaz Franz appeared and it is commonly attributed to him today.
The first publication was at the request of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.

Holy God, we praise Thy name;
Lord of all, we bow before Thee.
All on earth Thy scepter claim
All in heaven above adore Thee.
Infinite Thy vast domain;
Everlasting is Thy reign.

Hark, the glad celestial hymn
Angel choirs above are raising;
Cherubim and seraphim,
In unceasing chorus praising,
Fill the heavens with sweet accord:
Holy, holy, holy Lord!

Grosser Gott, wir loben dich!
Herr, wir preisen deine Stärke!
Vor dir neigt die Erde eich
und bewundert deine Werke.
Wie du warst vor aller Zeit,
so bleibst du in Ewigkeit.
