DESCRIPTION:
With typically understated flair, Emma Pollock manages to transform a three minute pop song into a widescreen exploration of metaphysics, existentialism and theological enquiry. It also happens to be room-silencingly beautiful.

‘Dark Skies’ was originally penned for the collaborative project ‘Whatever Gets You Through The Night’ which itself was transformed into an award winning theatre production by Cora Bissett, Swimmer One and David Greig. Exploring the various nocturnal activities that take place across a range of cities and characters, Emma’s contribution takes inspiration from Galloway Forest Park: one of only four ‘dark sky’ parks in the western world.

With such an otherworldly context as a jumping off point, Emma’s created three minutes of beguiling, entrancing pop that recalls the eloquent musings of Kate Bush, Nick Drake or Judee Sill. With the subtle orchestral sweep of her previous band’s finest moments, Emma once again delivers an unforgettable melody and a knockout blow in her exquisite vocal. ‘In Search of Harperfield’ has proved, finally, that Emma Pollock is a uniquely gifted songwriter, and you don’t have to search any further for evidence of her talent than the moving, shimmering strains of ‘Dark Skies’.

Emma embarks on a UK wide tour in May and will perform at a host of festivals throughout the summer.
