With summer now officially over here in Europe, the This and That team are sinking ever deeper into the underground to keep warm on these long, wintery nights. It is with great enthusiasm then, that we welcome the ever-impressive Emerson Todd into the TnT family with a six track EP of deliciously deep, subterranean house music that warms the soul as much as the feet. On Rising Tides the New Zealand native displays the kind of skills we have always admired about his productions, delivering a truly enveloping track that builds with subtlety and pose. The chiming melodies interplay with the deep, rolling bass perfectly to give the track pure synergy. Mind Games is more of a straight up club track. Loaded with plenty of power and drive, the rounded bass and surging beats create the real heads down moment of the release. This and That have long since been fans of Italian producer Tuccillos diverse approach to music making, so it was no surprise when his remix of Mind Games blew our minds when we first received it in the mail. Its dubby house aesthetic has a genuine old school vibe that takes you straight back to the sweaty warehouses of the 1990s. Next up, Emerson Todds Tangerine slows thing down with a more laidback, house jaunt. The track is led by a tumbling bassline and upfront vocal performance from Kruss. Here For You sees Emerson locked into a dreamy, almost Balearic aesthetic with a track that unfolds with a beautiful and natural flow. Blood Sugar takes us back onto the dancefloor with a true house chugger. Richly layered and textured to perfection, this is Emerson Todd signing off his inaugural This and That release in style. In the video, produced by Auto 64 we see Emerson Todd himself indulging another passion of his, pimping up motorbikes. As technically gifted in the workshop as he is in the studio, we catch an interesting glimpse at Emersons life away from music. Continuing our close relationship with the amazing Galleria Fonti, the abstract artwork for TnT006 was created by the super talented illustrator Nicola Gobbetto. We think its a wonderful match for our sixth release, which we are very proud to present to you now.
