Emeralds & Greenstone Auckland Folk Fest 2011 - evening concert - Titi & Ohaki.wmv - Video

DESCRIPTION:
This clip is from the end of Emeralds & Greenstone's evening concert at the 2011 Auckland Folk Festival. This was the world premiere of "Titi", a chant in te reo Maori composed by Ariana Tikao, with Irish dance choreographed by Argene Montgomery-Honger. Our final number was "Ohaki" (words traditional, music by Ariana Tikao) featuring I Bhi A Dha (traditional Scottish chant), arranged and performed by Emeralds & Greenstone. "Titi" is a chant in te reo Maori referring to a native seabird, the Muttonbird or 'Titi', while "Ohaki" is about being conscious of the legacy we leave behind us when we go. The words are from Ariana's grandfather, found amongst family papers.

Emeralds & Greenstone are a Maori-Celtic Folk Fusion band from Christchurch, New Zealand. They have been performing their unique blend of traditional and contemporary folk music woven with threads of jazz, blues, funk and folk-rock since 2006. www.emeraldsandgreenstone.com facebook.com/emeraldsandgreenstone
