DESCRIPTION:
"Oahu" (from Sweet Soubrette's album BIG CELEBRITY: http://sweetsoubrette.com/bigcelebrity) was inspired by Sarah Vowell's book UNFAMILIAR FISHES, which explores the history of Hawai'i, its colonization by the United States, and the story of its last reigning monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, 1838-1917 (also a composer of music, including the famous "Aloha Oe"). This archival film footage dates from 1937.
