Hard Times: Great Depression vs Great Recession (ellen cherry - Ignite Baltimore 6) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 03, 2010
DESCRIPTION:
In 2005, I wrote a song entitled "1933: To California" inspired in part, by Dorothea Lange's famous photograph "Migrant Mother." I became interested in hobo culture and traveled to Britt, IA, to the annual National Hobo Convention (Local Tourist #63). For the Ignite! presentation, I would like to perform my song with slides that show some of Dorothea Lange's photographs, including "Migrant Mother" and a few slides that show comparisons between the Great Depression (1930-1933) and what financial experts have dubbed the "Great Recession" (2007-2009), so we might gain some perspective on their differences.
