Alap Ni Ekaj Ratana - Swar Sangati (Ashit Desai & Hema Desai) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 12, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Swar Sangati - Swar is a musical note and Sangati is togetherness. Choral singing is an alien concept in Indian classical, contemporary and folk music and thus, it is rarely performed or heard in the Indian Sub-Continent outside of the Christian Church. In the western world, the church and choir singing are synonymous with the highest art form of singing the praise of the almighty. The concept here is of the unison of notes that make a musical composition. These melodies, compositions or songs sung in unison and harmony by a group of singers has the effect of adding 'thickness' to the sound, and is often described as 'lush' or 'rich'.

We have chosen those special compositions, in prayer form, that praises the almighty God. These are penned by eminent poets of the western Indian State of Gujarat that are further enriched and enhanced by well known popular composers. These have minimal orchestrations and the treatment is simple, thus elevating the voices that are in unison and harmony.

In Swar Sangati, Ashit Desai makes music that amptly illustrates the effect of the 'power of togetherness' that choral singing brings to devotional and spiritual music. An album which will be loved by all music lovers. Subscribe to Sona Rupa on YouTube: http://bit.ly/SonaRupa
