The Sextet was completed in 2006 and was subsequently dedicated to the composer's fiancée, Cristie Strongman. This is the first of six movements, each of which relates to the topography and/or archeology of Mt. Lowe in the Angeles National Forest: The White City, Castle Canyon, Mt. Lowe Observatory, The Cape of Good Hope, Granite Gate, and Alpine Tavern.
