Recovery Period perform "Laissez Faire" @ Cave 9 (7.12.08) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 14, 2008
DESCRIPTION:
Recovery Period perform "Laissez Faire" at Cave 9 on their 2008 summer tour.

This song was the first song the band worked on after Hurricane Katrina hit their hometown. One of the themes in the song is the persistence of resetting. Hurricane Katrina wiped out our coast line and we had to rebuild everything. Homes, businesses, parks, everything that was erased had to be rebuilt if it was going to ever live again on our coast.

With Justin Murphy on second guitar. This show was with The Pay Off, Echoes of Harper's Ferry, Skeptic, Jackpot Joint.

Lyrics for "Laissez Faire":

Time to transpose our fears into focusing on the shorter stories
of calamities at our finger tips we bring to page from pen and ink
spare no expense on failed attempts or false accusations

death to traitors! deny them passage to cross the (Tigris) river
steal the coins off their eyes, deny them their last rights,
let them rot by the riverside

scatter the ashes, reclaim the momemtum
of our privates lives from private eyes
leave a trail of ink from the pages we conspired by

steal the aspirations from under our feet
prepare to be decieved in your sleep
yet we still fall victim to this lost cause.
your false apologies can't buy you out of your execration
irrelevant to these anticlimatic circumstances

and as these pages keep turning
we keep growing more tired of these stories.
step up, Resist!
break away, exist!

prosecute these affairs that penetrate our defense
repose. Reset. Resist. Repose. Reset. Resist! Resist!
