Koichi Shimizu is a sound artist, producer based in Bangkok Thailand. Born in Japan 1972, studied sound engineering in NYC, Shimizu moved to Bangkok in 2003. Shimizu has wide range of work he’s been involved, films, installation, concert etc. He’s been running independent record label SO::ON Dry FLOWER since 2003.
As a sound designer and music composer, Shimizu has worked with Thai director Pen-ek Ratanaruang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Aditya Assarat, Visra Vichit-Vadakan etc, film include Pen-ek’s Invisible Waves, Ploy, Nymph, Apichatpong’s Syndromes and a Century, Uncle Boonmee who can recall his past lives, Aditya’s Wonderful Town, Hi-So and Visra's Karaoke Girl.

Otolary is Shimizu’s first full length solo album with 8 new tracks. Inspired by early Kraut rock and 90’s Techno, Shimizu mixes deep acoustic drone scape with thick analog synthesiser riff and beats mostly generated by his modular synthesiser. With Otolary, Shimizu successfully sums up last decade’s his career as a sound designer and an electronic musician.
