Originally from the Kilkenny area of Ireland, Brogue included Peter Brady, Eamonn Brady, Margaret Brady, and Jimmie Moore.

This song was written by Irish musician Proinsias O'Maonaigh about his hometown of Gaoth Dobhair in County Donegal, and is translated from the gaelic as the "The Green Glens", referring to O'Maonaigh's town of Gaoth Dobhair.
