Lord Wellington's March - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 01, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
In the immediate years following the Battle of Vittoria (1813) and the Battle of Waterloo (1815), Her Royal Highness, The Princess Charlotte of Wales, wrote a grand slow march and dedicated it to the Nation's hero, Lord Wellington, who later became the Duke of Wellington.

The band arrangement (2013) is by Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Barnwell (former Director of Music of the Band of the Welsh Guards and Senior Director of Music, Household Division). The band arrangement was crafted from a copy of the original hand written piano score obtained by His Royal Highness, Prince Charles, The Prince of Wales, Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

The music is played here by the Band of the Welsh Guards (March 2015) and is conducted by their Director of Music and the Senior Director of Music, Household Division, Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Roberts.

The music, Lord Wellington's March, will feature on the Queen's Birthday Parade in June 2015 when the honour of Trooping the Colour will go to the Welsh Guards in the Regiment's centennial year. 2015 is also the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.
