DESCRIPTION:
There was a time when I tried to make a living at music, and for years I did. But it got me into trouble with myself, and with those I cared about. I traveled a lot, spent too much time away from the people I loved. So I stopped a while. I devoted myself to raising my son, took a day job, and set the music business aside. I still wrote a lot of songs, played some local gigs, but my dreams of making a living from my music were shelved. Besides, by that time the digital era had begun, and it was harder than ever to make a buck as music became an easily copied commodity. Those years of traveling and playing as a solo act were rewarding, a troubadour's adventure, but tough on the soul at the same time. This song is about that period. I did come back to the music and the travel eventually (this song was recorded in Norway), but I'm still not much for the business of it. DL
