The electronic music freaks at PUSH headquarters have always been heavily influenced by the Japanese techno scene, so we're super psyched to be bringing the amazing DR. SHINGO to Volar as our headlining guest for April.

Shingo Shibamoto has for more than 10 years been a resident DJ at Tokyo's famed WOMB club, where he hosts the Cross Mountain Nights -- a bastion of techno in the Land of the Rising Sun. And apart from regular appearances at other influential clubs in Japan (such as Ageha) and throughout the world (including Tresor in Berlin and Zouk in Singapore), he has also made headline appearances at major festivals such as WIRE and Fuji Rock in Japan.

While studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Shingo became influenced by German electronic music such as Kraftwerk. Inspired to turn his hand to production, he released his debut single, Have You Ever Seen The Blue Comet (Forte Records, Germany) in 2002, closely followed by his first artist album, Dr Shingo's Space Odyssey -- both of which included remixes by Japanese techno godfather Takkyu Ishino.

Since then, Shingo has released another 10 singles (including the 2011 Steel Strings EP on the Plus label, the Japanese offshoot of Technasia Records) and three more albums that further refined his approach to techno, which over the years has ranged from electro-tech to minimal and hard techno.

Now it's Hong Kong's turn for an appointment with the doctor. Supporting Dr. Shingo at this celebration of Japanese electronic music will be PUSH residents Frankielam, Lukas and AKW, plus Hong Kong's number one Japanese DJ Imai Fukutaro.
