The Droyds rode in to town on the back of a 7" containing two cover versions, Squeeze's "Take Me I'm Yours" and "Girls On Pills", a cheeky Duran Duran version. Both tracks took under three hours to record and mix, and consisted largely of one finger analogue action and the vocal stylings of the great Leslie Phillips/Kenneth Williams. And a vocoder. The duo formed the God Made Me Hardcore label for this release, and went on to stick out tunes by Moon Unit, Siobhan Fahey and Bunnymad 69 alongside the electrosleaze compilation "This Is Hardcore". Remixes of Ladytron, Client, PFN and Armand Van Helden followed. The Droyds live spectacle was enhanced by three additional members, John, Matthew and Natalie, which lasted gigs with Junior Senior, Electric Six, Adamski, Avenue D, Larry Tee and Boy George before the band slimmed back down to the core two piece of Andy Chatterley and Richard Norris. Singles with Poptones and EMI/Parlophone followed. The 'EP1' release found the duo developing their own minimal, melodic house sound, a fresh, re-wired take on electro. They are currently working on a new EP and album for imminent release. A fresh set of remixes of 'All I Ever Wanted', by Outmode, Dusty Kid, Pilooski, Robytek vs Shield and Hick Nurdman is out now on Rebirth.
