Passacaglia in D by Syvius Leopold Weiss - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 07, 2016
DESCRIPTION:
www.guitarprinciples.com Weiss was a great improviser, and this piece sounds like it came out of his fingers one night when he was chillin' with his axe (lute!).

A Passacaglia means that a bass line is repeated over and over again while variations are played on top. This bass line is very cool because it keeps resolving harmonically on the 2nd beat of the measure, adding a nice syncopation between harmony and rhythm.

I find this piece, from one of my favorite composers, very satisfying to play
