toMU was born in Tokyo, Japan, and started djing since he was in high school.
Pushing his love for music further, in '98, he moved straight to New York City.
There, he was deeply influenced by manipulating sounds into music created instrumentally by turntables, and thus introduced to "Turntablism".
A self taught turntablist, in '00, he began his career starting from bands professionally.
He quickly established his career, performing and experimenting with several genres such as Hip Hop, Rock, Jazz Funk, Turntablism, etc.
Hailing as part of Organic Hip Hop Dub Band, RAINATION, he shared stages with prominent artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Common, Julian Marley, Omar, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, so on so forth.
As a professional solo turntablist, he became the first and only Japanese, who was placed 2nd in DMC New York '05 Final.
After which, he moved back to Tokyo.
His unique technical skills and creative musical style quickly caught the attention of peers and gained recognition by Toshi Kubota, the pioneer of Japanese Soul and R&B music.
Together with Toshi Kubota, his phenomenal and versatile skills were featured in 2 songs of Toshi Kubota's album named "For Real?"
Aside from being a world-class turntablist, in '07, he started playing in hip hop band, OHGA Band.
Talented and dedicated, in '08, he was exclusively selected, out of more than 100 DJs, to open up for "BENNIE K Secret Live" via Myspace Japan.
Within the same year, OHGA Band entered "RED BULL SOUNDCLASH ", the first band style battle in Japan. After a competitive 2-hour battle, OHGA Band emerged winner, and was awarded the distinguished honor to "First Champion".
toMU continues to further expand his solo career, and has been working on turntable performances, and producing music as a track maker.
