DESCRIPTION:
Through the years, many have asked about GLASS HARP playing SEASON OF THE WITCH (a DONOVAN song). Before they got their recording contract with DECCA, they did the song with room to improvise, do guitar, bass and drum solos, and throw in whatever was on their minds. Later, this jam song was changed to CAN YOU SEE ME, which remains a song that every night in concert has special spontaneous moments. This recording was done on a small hand held reel to reel recorder. I was at the BUHL PARK GAZEBO the summer night of this event, and I saw the guy recording it. Years later I did some investigating and found out that he was the guitarist with a local Sharon, Pa band called YELLOW CANARY.. Years later I met his father (a professor at Edinboro University) and he arranged for me to have the master tape. That is where this recording comes from. (I do have several other songs from the night, but this is the legendary SEASON OF THE WITCH) --- I have added "Suite" to the title since there is so much more here.. If you listen closely, you will find a haunting snippet of the MOODY BLUES song THE VOYAGE. Phil was developing his volume swells and there are several sweet bits in this 16 plus minute piece.. Not an overwhelmingly high quality recording, but not too bad either! Well worth the time to listen to a trio of hungry ready to share their music with the world guys! Long Live GLASS HARP!!!
