PUBLISHED:  Jan 03, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Wonderful theme composed by super Tenor saxophone player, George Young. This tune is taken from his album "Oleo" (1987)

George Young began his career in the 1960's and played in a lot of movies and TV series. He played in a lot of CTI Records with arranger David Matthews. He was a member of the Manhattan Jazz Quintet with David Matthews (piano), Lew Soloff (tp), Steve Gadd (drums) and Eddie Gomez (Bass).

His collaborations include : George Benson, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, The Saturday Night Live Band, Dave Holland, Toots Thielemans, in the big bands of Louis Bellson and Benny Goodman and so many others.

He played a lot with Michael Brecker and david Sanborn but he's not well-known, unfortunately. He swings and grooves like nobody.
