NYC Family! We are considering this edition of Uhuru Afrika a very special one. Jose Marquez is family to us. His music has been a huge part of our gatherings from jump, and we are grateful for his support of us. We have had him play with us in Boston and Mexico at Mi Casa and now we are excited to have him join us in NYC. His catalog is impressive by any standard, having remixed tracks for Vega, Yoruba, Djoon, Nulu, OpenBar and his home label, UK based Tribe Records, and even just finished a project for Gilles Peterson's Brownswood. His sound is unique and resonates profoundly with Uhuru Afrika's energy and mission.

We are also welcoming our Brother 2Melo for his first Uhuru Afrika appearance. 2Melo is a champion of the afro-latin sound in NYC and produces epic multi-sensory renegade events with his junXion crew in and around NYC.
