Ritmuller GH-160R baby grand piano sounds, Lid DOWN, muddying it - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 09, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
The, unfortunately muddy audio for this relatively inexpensive, small grand piano (5' 3") designed by Lothar Thomma (Steingraeber and C. Bechstein designer) consists of just too-quiet and dull arpeggios and clusters to check resonance, sustain + clarity of the notes in pedaled arpeggios -- played with the LID FULLY DOWN. I'll do one for louder sounds after I find out how to record it w/o distortion in this room.

The irritatingly long pauses were because I didn't know what to play next to give an idea of the basic (but quiet) sound from bottom to top..
Using the Nokia Lumia 1020 cell phone, I haven't figured out how to mic the piano when playing loud passages, w/o setting off the volume limiter, which compresses the sound, or getting distortion in the recording. (The photos are from the cell phone also.)

... So, this video's audio is very "low-key" (so to speak) to demo only the basic sound of the piano, from the bottom of the keyboard to the top. The piano sounds really good for a small grand, but it's new, and tuning will be less stable during the first year at the extreme ends of the keyboard. It needs some tuning now, as you'll hear (the audio was done today), and I'll probably get a Dampp Chaser to handle the variance in humidity readings I'm getting, which affects tuning.
It gave me a good excuse to learn the free Windows Movie Maker for combining photos and audio.

It's about 3-4 times less costly than European or American grand pianos of similar quality.
