Discomania was established in 1985 by Christian Fehlau and Uwe Kohlwes and has since developed into one of the worlds leading distribution and wholesale companies for Dance and Electronic music. With over 100 exclusively distributed vinyl labels (i.e.: Badabing, Bitshift, Border Community, C2, Drizzly, Electric Kingdome, Euphonic, Highball, Holon, Kick Fresh, Kosmo, Kontor, Low Spirit, Ministry of Sound Germany, Moonboutique, Nerven, Overdose, Overdrive, Room, Selected Works, Superstar, Sushitunes, Tiger, Tracid Traxxx, Traffic Tunes, Universal, Vandit, Venom, Vivid Trax, Virgin, Waterworld, Zeitgeist.) and the CD Series Café Del Mar and many others all were contributing to make Discomania a crucial supplier for finest upfront Dance/Electronic and Chill Out music,as well as distributing Rock, Alternative, Funk, House and Black Music on CD format.



Not only that Discomania was also the exclusive import distribution partner for many US, UK, Dutch, French, Spanish and Belgian Dance Labels, ( Saw Recordings, Armed.Yoshitoshi. Uno, Tsunami, Armada,) in particular concentrating on House and Techno Music as well as dealing with all kinds of superior Electronic & Dance music from around the world.



Discomania also had a very close business relationship with the Major labels(BMG SONY, EMI, Virgin, Universal & Warner)and is also a partner and highly appreciated customer for many other German distributors such as: Rough Trade, Kompakt, Intergroove, WAS, Music Mail and others.



In a decreasing market, Discomanias strength was to concentrate on the knowledge of its workforce and their strong belief in music which means that Discomania was always at the peak of the international scene.



The DMD Group of labels, founded by A&R Armin Johnert in 1994 was therefore able to keep the sales figures stable and one could proudly say that if you were into German Electronica & Dancemusic then Discomania/ DMD has been first on your list of suppliers.



The company was closed on February 28, 2010 as a result of a market depression.
